Breastfeeding in Combat Boots Social Media Admin Position Description

Breastfeeding in Combat Boots, a nonprofit organization dedicated to Advocating, Informing, and Supporting Active Duty, Guard and Reserve breastfeeding military women, seeks several qualified candidates for the volunteer position of Social Media Admin. This is a volunteer position, as are all positions within Breastfeeding in Combat Boots, in keeping with our commitment to keep overhead costs as low as possible.  Breastfeeding in Combat Boots is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusivity, and welcomes candidates from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences.

Qualified candidates must possess LEAARC lactation credentials (CLC or IBCLC, WIC Peer Counselor, Breastfeeding USA or LLLI) or obtain credentials within one year. Candidates must already possess enough lactation knowledge and savvy to recognize reliable sources from which to share information on social media.  Candidates must currently be on Active Duty, Guard, Reserve or Veteran status and be familiar with military culture, protocols, regulations and policies, as well as the realities of serving in the military.

Qualified candidates must be knowledgeable about various forms of social media (FB, Twitter, Instagram).  Strong written communication skills, diplomacy, conflict resolution experience, and the ability to maintain professionalism as the voice of the organization are imperative.  Candidates must possess knowledge of military policies and regulations, as well as standards of conduct, physical fitness, weight loss and how they relate to breastfeeding.  Qualified candidates must be able to work independently and to fully participate in a collaborative team of admins across the globe, and to express themselves in writing and in person with both candor and tact, and be familiar and comfortable with working remotely using cloud technology (Google) and organizational platforms (FB, TWitter, Instagram).  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an administrator for social media accounts, especially Facebook,Twitter,Instagram
  • Share posting responsibilities of SM accounts and monitoring of comments
  • Integrate and cross-post content on SM accounts
  • Answer breastfeeding questions and post photos using hashtags, and humor, mixed with evidence-based breastfeeding information
  • Manage controversial topics/comments, maintain compliance with community standards policy
