Have you successfully breastfed in combat boots?
Know someone who has combined breastfeeding with military service?
You deserve a Challenge Coin to celebrate your success!
Are you a breastfeeding mother serving in the military? Have you successfully battled the many unique challenges that come with ‘giving the breast for baby and country’ ? Have you pumped in a HUMVEE or at the range? Pumped while overseas and shipped your milk home? Pumped while at Air Assault school? Pumped in a C-17 or Apache? Locked yourself in a storeroom so you pump? Breastfed your baby at the CDC on your lunch break? Dealt with an admiral on the phone with your pump whirring the background? Done PT with aching breasts full of milk at 0500? If you can answer yes to any of these (and more) then you deserve a Breastfeeding in Combat Boots Challenge Coin!
But why a Challenge Coin for breastfeeding in the military you ask? Because breastfeeding while serving in the armed forces is tough with multiple challenges to overcome, and breastfeeding rates have been shown to increase when mothers feel supported. A Challenge Coin signifies accomplishment and provides a tangible piece of support for a job well done. As a US Navy veteran who breastfed while on active duty, I launched a very successful Kickstarter Project to create a Challenge Coin to honor and celebrate the wonderful achievement of giving the breast for baby and country. This coin is designed for all mothers who have breastfed while serving in the military (whether on active duty, the Guard, Reserves or Veteran).
